CEFTER ORGANISES CERTIFICATE COURSES FOR AGRIC EXTENSION WORKERS AND FOOD VENDORS
Benue State University Centre for Food Technology & Research, CEFTER has commenced a one week intensive certification workshop for Agricultural extension workers and food vendors harvested across the 23 local Government Areas of Benue State.
Declaring the workshop opened, the Benue State Commissioner for Agriculture Dr Timothy Ajir appreciated CEFTER for her sustained commitment to agricultural development particularly in the control of post harvest losses.
The honourable commissioner said the choice of agricultural extension workers was a step in the right direction because those group of agricultural stakeholders are the most neglected in crucial discourse platforms.
He explained that, extension workers were the closest to rural farmers and targeting them was strategic, delibrate and carefully calculated to enhance pre and post crop farming processes towards galvanising support for the enhancement of crop production, processing and packaging.
Earlier in his opening remarks the CEFTER Centre Leader Dr. Barnabas Ikyo appreciated the Vice Chancellor of Benue State University, Makurdi, Prof. Joe Tor Iorapuu for approving the commencement of the workshop and assured participants of intellectually engaging moments at the certification programme.
In his remarks, the CEFTER Director training and research assured that a cream of seasoned professionals were assembled from across the country to engage participants on various topics, themes and areas of crop farming, processing and packaging.
Responding on behalf of participants, one of the extension workers Mr Aching Utenge appreciated the organisers for the opportunity to participate in the training and assured of their commitment to making the best of the exercise.
